VGM/Real Estate started in the Netherlands as a supplement to the Dutch issue Vastgoedmarkt. Vastgoedmarkt started in 1974 as the independent real estate news source in the Netherlands and has been market leader ever since.

In the new millennium more and more people asked Vastgoedmarkt to bring more international news, because the current magazines contained mostly background stories instead of news items. This meant the start of VGM/Real Estate, a newspaper that brings you actual international news, trends and developments.
